16 Jul 21 Best Sheets on Amazon, Tested and Reviewed (2024)
There’s something about traditional ditsy floral print that makes me uneasy, which is why I love the slightly larger format of Marimekko’s iconic Pikkuinen Unikko blooms on this sheet set. There’s no silky feel, but these cotton percale sheets are high-quality—I’m two washes in and they still feel like they came straight out of the package.
The design is really what I fell in love with; I love the surprise of an unexpected pattern as you peel away a comforter or duvet cover. It adds a bit of subtle drama to a bedroom. But with a 200-thread count, they work and feel just as good as they look. If you don’t like the slick feeling of sateen or silk, I would highly recommend looking into these. One tip: If you sleep hot, I would ditch your top layer and just go with the top sheet on super hot nights. My air conditioner gave out one evening I had these on the bed and I got hot enough to wake up and drag a fan into the room. Even then, I’m still into these.
The deep pocket of the fitted sheet made them easy to get on the mattress and they didn’t slide off the entire time I had them on the bed. I would recommend these for most sleepers, but if you wake up sweaty every single night there are probably better options out there.
More great sheets we’ve tried on Amazon:
Buffy 100% Eucalyptus Lyocell Sheet Set
While eucalyptus sheets are generally hypoallergenic, Buffy’s 300-thread-count set is also colored with natural dyes—made from ingredients like turmeric, gardenia, and pomegranate — to avoid any potential irritants (or harm to the environment). Dyes aside, Clever editor and tester Zoë Sessums finds them “cool-to-the-touch,” “ultrasoft,” and silky smooth. They “only get softer after each wash,” she adds, and the color hasn’t run or faded.
Linoto 100% Linen Sheet Set
If you prefer a drapey, lived-in bedding look, Amazon also carries Linoto’s oversized linen sheets, much beloved by contributor Erika Owen. “I have a full-size bed and the flat sheet does pool over the edge of my mattress and bed frame,” she writes, but “I also love the lived-in look they constantly have, thanks to the easy wrinkling.” They keep her “constantly cool” throughout the night, so much so that she now has trouble falling asleep on non-linen sheets. While they’re more expensive than most linen sheets on this list, they’re also woven from a higher 500-thread-count, making them softer and more durable, and they’re made in upstate New York.
Cozy Earth Oat Queen Sheet Set
Clever editor Audrey Lee is not only a “big fan” of her Cozy Earth loungewear, but also her cooling bamboo-viscose and linen-blend sheets. According to the brand, bamboo viscose fibers are more hollow than cotton, allowing more air (and heat from your body) to pass through while you sleep. While the linen-bamboo set is only available from the brand’s website, you can buy the bamboo viscose sheets directly from Amazon, which ship for free. They’re “super light and airy,” Audrey writes, making them ideal for warmer months or for hot sleepers, and they “cling to my mattress like a dream.”
Brooklinen Bed Linen Set
Brooklyn-based Brooklinen may very well be our most-recommended bedding brand to date, especially when it comes to cotton sheets. It’s a favorite of Clever editor Rachel Fletcher, who was quickly wooed by the brand’s cotton Luxe Starter Sheet Set. “I’m a hot sleeper with sensitive skin and they’re really cool on my skin at night, which is a huge relief,” she writes. And unlike other lower-end cotton sets she’s tried, they wash well and are “smooth and not at all scratchy.” (They’re also free of skin-irritating chemicals.) If the Amazon-available neutrals aren’t what you’re looking for, you can find the full range of colorways (and the linen sheet sets) on the brand’s website.
Sheets & Giggles 100% Eucalyptus Lyocell Sheet Set
When Clever tester Kristi Kellogg needed a new set of sheets, she took to Amazon (and read dozens upon dozens of reviews), before landing on this eucalyptus-lyocell set from Sheets + Giggles: “They’re billed as super soft, hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, and naturally cooling… [and] they also come with a lifetime warranty,” she writes. “How can you go wrong?” After testing them for several sleeps, she reports that they have a “smooth, silky feel that is, really, nothing like a regular cotton sheet.” They’re breathable and stay cool-to-the-touch, and are “super refreshing” even on sweltering summer nights.
Sijo Premium 100% Austrian Eucalyptus Lyocell Tencel Sheet Set
Sijo’s eucalyptus-lyocell sheets have a slightly lower thread count than the set above, giving them a lighter weight and more relaxed look. (They are, however, just as cooling.) They have “an almost liquid, viscose kind of feel,” writes tester Rachel Fletcher, that’s akin to “sleeping on a perfectly worn in vintage T-shirt that also keeps you from getting sweaty.” Unlike cotton sheets, they have a satiny shine and “don’t cling to every corner,” making them especially ideal for those who prefer their sheets untucked. Plus, they’re hypoallergenic, as well as asthma- and allergy-friendly certified.
