I hung a new kitchen cafe curtain last week and I love it! This is our first summer here in this home after our renovation so I am finally getting to do the things I dreamed about last summer when our kitchen was torn apart….swapping out simple accessories for the seasons.
This new cafe curtain is light and airy and the ticking pattern and palette feels so fresh for summer.
How I Hung My Kitchen Cafe Curtain Rod
Hanging a cafe curtain and making a change like this is really easy with a tension rod. As long as the window or opening isn’t too wide, the fabric isn’t too heavy, a tension rod is simple to use.
No need for tools or a permanent rod installation unless you want it to be extra secure and feel comfortable attaching it to your woodwork or cabinetry.
I use these ring clips and this rod. The rings are helpful if you want the whole curtain panel to slide to one side or to open and close easily. The rings also make it possible to hang non curtain fabric (even a dish towel if it is big enough). Otherwise you can skip the rings and put the rod through the pocket of the curtain.
To make a curtain change, all you have to do is attach the new fabric to the ring clips and voila, a new seasonal look!
I’ve had several people on social media ask me for my kitchen, dining room and island dimensions.
Is more detailed layout and measurement information something you would be interested in, too?
Our English-inspired coastal kitchen came together just as we had hoped, every inch was maximized to be functional (and pretty)! We really love the little stool nook. It adds both a handy place to sit (my husband sits this spot every day!) and charm to our kitchen.
My next summer home project
Even though big renovations are exciting, it’s always the little homey updates like this that I enjoy the most.
I have a new fun home project coming up this month,. It will make a bigger impact and is slightly more of an investment than a curtain 🙂 but far less involved and expensive than a kitchen reno. I’m so excited because it’s a project we will enjoy all summer for years to come.
And don’t worry, you didn’t miss our backyard progress report! I will share about that soon, too.
Seasonal Home Rhythms
This summer in HomeBody Gathering Place we’ve been talking about the practice of seasonal home rhythms (among other things!). I’ve always found it to be so freeing and very rewarding to think in terms of embracing rhythms over rules in caring for a home. It is actually one of my favorite things to teach others because it has made such an impact on me and revolutionizes how I take care of our home!
If you love all the homey things like I do, or would like guidance, the HGP is the place for you!
